In a swift and efficient operation, the city crime branch of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar solved a murder case within 24 hours of discovering the victim's body. The police have arrested seven individuals and detained a minor in connection with the crime.
Swift Police Action Unravels the Crime
The case came to light on Tuesday when police received information about an unidentified man's body lying on a hillock near the Kasambari dargah at Padegaon. Senior officers and crime branch teams immediately rushed to the spot. Four special teams were formed to identify the victim and track down the perpetrators.
Demonstrating remarkable speed, the crime branch established the deceased's identity in just two hours. "Within two hours, the crime branch successfully established the identity of the deceased with the help of technical analysis and confidential informants," stated DCP (Crime) Ratnakar Navale. The victim was identified as Sheikh Shakeel, alias Surma Sheikh Arefi (30), a resident of Phulenagar in the Pandharpur area of Waluj.
Love, Money, and a Mobile Phone: The Motive Behind the Murder
Investigations quickly revealed that the murder was not a random act. Shakeel had ongoing disputes with several of the accused. Police teams gathered intelligence pointing to prior enmity, which helped them narrow down the suspects rapidly.
Further inquiry uncovered that the victim had specific altercations with two primary accused, Syed Siraj (alias Mari Syed Naser) and Sheikh Rehan (alias Jabbar Sheikh Ibrahim), along with their associates. Crime branch personnel first detained Mari, who, during interrogation, confessed to his involvement and revealed the names of his accomplices.
According to Inspector (Crime) Grajanan Kalyankar, the murder was rooted in a complex dispute involving a love affair, issues related to a mobile phone, and monetary transactions. This combination of personal and financial grievances allegedly led to the fatal attack.
All Accused Apprehended Within a Day
In a coordinated operation involving multiple police teams, all the adult accused were tracked down and arrested from different locations within the critical 24-hour window. The police have arrested the following seven individuals:
