Chennai: 14-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped and Gang-Raped After Terrifying Motorcycle Chase
In a horrific incident near Madurantakam in Chengalpet district, a 14-year-old girl was chased, kidnapped, and gang-raped by two men late on Monday evening. The survivor bravely walked through the night to reach Chengalpet Government Hospital, covering a distance of 12 to 16 kilometers, where she reported the crime at dawn. Police have since arrested one suspect, identified as 'Kakka' Balaji, and are actively searching for the other perpetrator.
Details of the Attack
The ordeal began when the 14-year-old girl was riding pillion on a motorcycle with a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, traveling from Tambaram towards Keelakandai. As they approached the Devathur area, they noticed two men on a motorcycle following them. The suspects, who were reportedly intoxicated, attempted to confront the three teenagers.
In an effort to escape, the boy accelerated the motorcycle but lost control, causing all three to fall. As the culprits closed in, the boy and the 16-year-old girl managed to get back on the bike and flee the scene, leaving the injured 14-year-old behind. The two goons then caught her, dragged her to a secluded area near Athivakkam lake, and gang-raped her before abandoning her at the spot.
Police Response and Investigation
After the survivor reached Chengalpet Government Hospital and narrated her ordeal to doctors, hospital authorities alerted the police. The Melmaruvathur All-Women Police Station promptly registered a case and formed four special teams to track down the accused. The survivor is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, with her condition reported as stable.
A senior police official revealed that the arrested suspect, 'Kakka' Balaji from Thiruverkadu, is involved in several criminal cases within the Guduvanchery police station limits. Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the second suspect and ensure justice for the victim.
