Chandigarh Rocked by Two Separate Stabbing Incidents

Chandigarh witnessed a violent night as two separate stabbing incidents left a 15-year-old boy in critical condition and another man injured, prompting police to launch parallel investigations under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Teenager Attacked in Front of Father in Dadumajra

In the first and more severe case, a 15-year-old boy named Arman was critically injured after three youths attacked him with a knife at Dadumajra colony late on Wednesday night. The crime occurred in front of the victim's father, Sanjay, who sustained minor injuries while attempting to save his son.

The injured teenager was first rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16 (GMSH-16). After receiving primary treatment, doctors referred him to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) due to his deteriorating and critical condition.

Police Complaint Details the Brutal Attack

In a formal complaint to the police, Sanjay, a 40-year-old resident of Dadumajra colony, Sector 38, stated that around 9:30 PM on February 11, he was walking with his son Arman towards the Ramlila ground when three individuals—identified as Harman, Bihari, and another youth—confronted them.

According to the complaint, Bihari and his companion restrained Arman by holding both his hands, while Harman allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife. Arman collapsed on the road, lying in a pool of blood as the three accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.

It was revealed during the investigation that Bihari is actually a relative of Sanjay, adding a layer of complexity to the case.

Police Action and Investigation Underway

When Sanjay raised an alarm, nearby residents rushed to the spot and assisted in transporting the injured to GMSH-16. The police were subsequently informed about the incident.

Maloya police have registered a case of attempted murder against Harman, Bihari, and the third accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officers from Maloya police station are currently examining CCTV footage from around the incident site to gather more clues and identify the suspects.

In the preliminary investigation, mutual enmity is being considered as the possible motive behind this brutal attack.

Second Stabbing Incident in Mauli Jagran

In a separate and unrelated case, Mauli Jagran police have booked two individuals for allegedly stabbing a person with sharp-edged weapons. The injured victim was admitted to GMSH-16 for treatment.

No arrests have been made in this case so far. The injured person has been identified as Abhishek, a resident of Mauli Jagran Complex in Chandigarh.

Abhishek has alleged that he was attacked by Vicky, David, and others with sharp weapons at Mauli Jagran. Police are investigating this incident separately, with details still emerging as the inquiry progresses.

These back-to-back violent incidents have raised concerns about public safety in Chandigarh, with law enforcement agencies working diligently to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice for the victims.
