Chandigarh Salon Worker Seriously Injured in Alleged Attack Over Old Enmity
A salon worker in Chandigarh was seriously injured on Thursday afternoon after he was allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by a group of armed men in the Vikas Nagar area of Mauli Jagran. The incident has sparked concerns about local safety and police responsiveness in the community.
Details of the Violent Assault
Police have identified the injured person as Gufran, a resident of Vikas Nagar. He sustained deep cuts on his hands and multiple parts of his body during the brutal assault. Gufran was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (GMCH-32), where he is currently undergoing medical treatment for his severe injuries.
According to the victim's brother, Muhammad Irfan, the attack is linked to an old enmity that dates back to a previous altercation. Irfan explained that some time ago, a group of youths stood outside their house in Vikas Nagar and used abusive language. When Gufran asked them to stop, they allegedly beat him up at that time as well.
Allegations of Police Inaction and Repeated Targeting
Irfan stated that although the family had lodged a formal complaint with the Mauli Jagran police station after the initial incident, no concrete action was taken against the accused individuals. This lack of intervention, he claims, emboldened the group to target Gufran again on Thursday while he was working in his salon.
The alleged attackers have been named as Mani, Gurkha, Vicky, Deepak, Sahil, Golu, Gaurav, and other individuals. Irfan alleges that they arrived at the salon armed with sharp-edged weapons and launched a violent attack as soon as they reached the spot. Local residents, witnessing the assault, quickly intervened to help rush Gufran to GMCH-32 for urgent medical attention.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
A formal complaint has been filed with the Mauli Jagran police, who have initiated an investigation into the case. Police officials have confirmed that raids are currently being conducted to trace and arrest the accused individuals involved in this serious crime.
