On the auspicious occasion of Republic Day 2026, the Chandigarh Police force witnessed a moment of immense pride and recognition as several of its dedicated personnel were honoured with prestigious national awards. The President of India has approved the conferment of the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service on three distinguished officers, while the Administrator of Chandigarh has announced the Administrator's Police Medal for Distinguished and Meritorious Service for 25 other officers and personnel. President's Police Medal Recipients: A Trio of Excellence

Among the elite recipients of the President's Police Medal is Pushpendra Kumar, IPS, a 2006-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, who currently serves as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Union Territory of Chandigarh. His illustrious career spans several key positions within the Delhi Police, including significant postings as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police (Prime Minister's Security), and Joint Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Range. Additionally, he has contributed his expertise to the Traffic and Vigilance Units and served on a Central deputation in the Ministry of Defence. The medal is a testament to his sustained leadership, administrative acumen, and operational contributions that have significantly enhanced policing standards.

Inspector Jasbir Singh: A Crusader Against Drug Trafficking

Another notable awardee is Inspector Jasbir Singh, who is currently posted as the Station House Officer (SHO) at Police Station Maloya.
