Chandigarh Man Found Dead in SUV After Disappearance, Second Body Found in Maloya
In a tragic turn of events, the body of a 35-year-old man who had been reported missing from Sector 28 in Chandigarh was discovered in his SUV under mysterious circumstances late on Friday night in the Manimajra area. The Manimajra police have taken custody of the body, which is currently held at the GMSH-16 mortuary for an autopsy, and have initiated inquest proceedings to investigate the case.
Details of the First Incident
Police have identified the deceased as Abhishek Sahni, a resident of Sector 28. His family members had earlier filed a missing person report at the Sector 26 police station after he went unaccounted for. According to sources, Abhishek had recently returned from a de-addiction centre in Punjab, indicating a history of substance abuse.
The discovery was made when a local resident noticed a car parked suspiciously in Manimajra and promptly alerted the police via the emergency number 112. Upon arrival, officers found Abhishek lying unconscious inside a Toyota Innova vehicle. He was immediately rushed to GMSH-16, where medical professionals declared him dead upon examination.
Initial investigations revealed no external injury marks on the body. Police officials have suggested that the deceased may have succumbed to a drug overdose, given his known habit of substance abuse. However, they emphasized that the exact cause of death will only be determined after the postmortem report is received, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Second Incident in Maloya
In a separate and unrelated case, the body of 59-year-old Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Maloya who worked as a sweeper for the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, was found dead near a public toilet. Didar Singh, a colleague of the victim, reported that Amarjeet was sitting near the toilet while on duty when he suddenly collapsed.
He was quickly transported to GMSH-16, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has also been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. This incident adds to the somber atmosphere in the region, with authorities working to piece together the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
The Chandigarh police are urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist in these investigations, as they continue to explore all possible angles in these unfortunate events.
