Panipat Police Solve Blind Murder Case with Arrest of Two Brothers
In a significant breakthrough, the Panipat police have claimed to solve a blind murder case involving the stabbing death of a 17-year-old gol gappa seller. The authorities have arrested two brothers, identified as Keshav and Rajesh from Dabur Colony, in connection with the crime that occurred last Saturday near Kutani road.
Details of the Incident and Investigation
The victim, Ashwani, a resident of Jagdish Nagar on Kutani road and originally from Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh, was fatally stabbed near the drain bridge. The Quilla police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Nand Kishor, the brother-in-law of the deceased, against unknown persons under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Superintendent of Police Bhupender Singh assigned the investigation to the CIA-2 unit. The team diligently activated its sources and meticulously scanned footage from over 100 CCTV cameras to track down the perpetrators. Acting on a crucial tip-off, Keshav and Rajesh were apprehended near the truck union office in Sector 25.
Confession and Criminal Background
During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to murdering Ashwani. They revealed that they, along with a third accomplice named Gaurav from Hanuman Colony, were involved in the crime. The brothers admitted to being addicted to drugs and planning to snatch a mobile phone to fund their habit.
Late on Saturday, they approached Ashwani's gol gappa stall on Kutani road. Gaurav attempted to steal a mobile phone from Ashwani's pocket, but when the victim resisted, the group attacked him with knives before fleeing the scene.
Inspector Virender, in-charge of CIA-2, noted that Rajesh and Keshav have a prior criminal record. A case was previously registered against them at the Chandnibagh police station for assaulting a power employee, and both had recently been released on bail.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Efforts
The arrested brothers were produced before a court, which granted a two-day police remand. Inspector Virender stated that the police will interrogate the accused to recover the weapon used in the crime and the snatched mobile phone. Additionally, efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the absconding accused, Gaurav.
This arrest highlights the diligent work of the Panipat police in solving a heinous crime and bringing the perpetrators to justice, while also underscoring the dangers posed by drug addiction and its link to violent offenses.
