Shocking Child Abuse Case in UP Village: 7-Year-Old Locked in Deep Freezer for Five Hours

A deeply disturbing incident of alleged child abuse has emerged from a village in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district, where a 7-year-old boy was reportedly locked inside a deep freezer for nearly five hours on Tuesday. The horrifying ordeal occurred after the child was accused of "stealing" goods from a local car workshop.

The traumatic event took place in Sheikhpur Khichra village, located within the Dhaulana area of Hapur. According to police reports, the young victim is the son of a local resident from the same community. The accused, identified as Mohd Azad, who operates a car workshop in the vicinity, allegedly suspected the boy of stealing items from his business premises.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

Station House Officer Avneesh Kumar confirmed that police authorities took suo-moto cognizance of the matter and promptly registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused. Mohd Azad has been charged under BNSS 170, which pertains to arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences. The accused was apprehended and subsequently sent to jail on Tuesday itself, demonstrating swift law enforcement response.

Motivation Behind the Cruel Act

SHO Kumar provided further context, stating, "The accused operated a car workshop in the area, while the child resides in the same locality. Azad suspected that the child had stolen goods from his workshop and intended to teach him a harsh lesson through this extreme punishment." This revelation highlights the alarming mindset behind the cruel treatment of a minor over alleged petty theft.

The incident has raised serious concerns about child safety and protection mechanisms in rural areas, with authorities emphasizing the importance of proper legal procedures rather than vigilante justice. The physical and psychological impact on the young victim remains a matter of grave concern as investigations continue into this case of alleged child endangerment and abuse.
