Mumbai Police Expose Bishnoi Gang's Role in Rohit Shetty House Firing
In a significant development, the Mumbai Crime Branch has disclosed critical information regarding the weapon supplier involved in the recent firing incident at Bollywood director Rohit Shetty's residence. The accused, identified as Asaram Fasle, also known as Babu, maintained connections with the notorious Bishnoi gang for approximately four years prior to the attack.
Detailed Investigation Reveals Gang Connections
According to police officials, Fasle operated as a garage mechanic for the Bishnoi gang. He reportedly joined the criminal organization under the influence of Shubham Lonkar, who authorities believe masterminded both the Baba Siddique murder case and the Rohit Shetty firing incident. The Crime Branch investigation confirmed that Fasle, following Lonkar's instructions, provided weapons to Swapnil Sakat. These firearms were subsequently used by an unidentified shooter to fire four rounds outside Shetty's Mumbai home.
Arrests and Court Proceedings
Following the shooting, Mumbai police swiftly arrested four suspects on February 1. On February 5, all five accused in the case were presented before Mumbai's Esplanade Court (Killa Court), where they were remanded to six days of police custody. The judge extended their custody until February 11, 2026, citing the seriousness of the offense and evidence of criminal conspiracy. The court emphasized the necessity for a thorough investigation and joint interrogation of the accused.
During the hearing, police informed the court that a social media post had claimed responsibility for the firing. Investigators revealed that the accused utilized the Signal messaging application to maintain privacy in their communications. Authorities are currently searching for additional deleted chats involving Shubham Lonkar.
Legal Arguments and Additional Arrest
The prosecution sought maximum custody for the four initially arrested individuals and requested an additional ten-day custody for Asaram Fasle. Defense lawyers presented counterarguments, with Fasle's attorney claiming his client was not present at the crime scene and was arrested based solely on circumstantial evidence. The lawyer further disputed any connection between Fasle and Shubham Lonkar.
Legal representatives for three other accused requested judicial custody, arguing that police had found no evidence beyond their alleged involvement in providing a vehicle used in the incident.
Latest Developments in the Case
In a recent update, the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell arrested another individual on Thursday in connection with the firing. Police confirmed that Asaram Fasle, alias Babu, was responsible for supplying the weapon used in the attack on Rohit Shetty's residence. This arrest underscores the ongoing investigation's intensity as authorities continue to unravel the network behind the targeted shooting.
The case has drawn significant attention due to its connection to high-profile criminal elements and the potential implications for celebrity security in Mumbai. Police remain committed to pursuing all leads and ensuring comprehensive justice in this matter of public safety and criminal conspiracy.
