According to Alot police station in-charge Munendra Gautam, the accused, identified as Shyam Nayak, works as a security guard at the revered Mahakal temple in Ujjain. Nayak had returned home to celebrate his birthday when the tragic event unfolded. During the festivities, he fired his licensed gun in what was intended as a celebratory shot into the air. However, in a devastating turn, the bullet travelled forward instead of skyward, hitting Rohit, an 18-year-old youth who was standing near a neighbouring house.
The pellets struck both of Rohit's calves, causing significant injuries. Upon receiving information about the shooting, police swiftly reached the spot and arranged for Rohit to be shifted to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment. His condition is currently under observation, with authorities monitoring the situation closely.
