A 26-year-old bike taxi driver lost his life in a horrific accident in east Delhi on Sunday afternoon. The victim, identified as Jubair Ali, was crushed under the rear tyre of a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water tanker in the Geeta Colony area.
Tanker Driver Flees After Fatal Collision
According to police reports, the incident occurred when the fully loaded water tanker ran over Jubair Ali, who was on duty riding his motorcycle. The tanker driver immediately fled the spot after the collision, leaving the victim trapped under the vehicle. Police officials confirmed that no eyewitnesses were present at the scene when they arrived.
Victim Suffered Severe Injuries Despite Safety Gear
Upon reaching the location, police found the young man pinned under the tanker's rear wheel. Jubair Ali was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. However, the impact of the collision was so severe that it completely crushed his head, leading to his instantaneous death. The victim was a resident of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh and worked as a bike taxi driver to earn a living.
Police Investigation and Seizure of Vehicles
Law enforcement officials launched a detailed investigation into the tragic event. Both the offending Delhi Jal Board tanker and the victim's motorcycle have been seized for further forensic examination. The crime and forensic teams conducted a thorough inspection of the accident site.
The body of Jubair Ali was subsequently shifted to a mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police have confirmed that the water tanker involved was an authorised vehicle belonging to the Delhi Jal Board.
