Bicholim police on Monday arrested a 28-year-old man, Omkar Mamlekar, for alleged rash and negligent driving. According to PI Vijay Rane Sardesai at Bamanwado Nanoda, Mamlekar was allegedly speeding while driving a Thar from Assonora to Karsarpal and lost control over his vehicle, when he crashed into a bus on Sunday evening, injuring 13 passengers and himself.
Details of the Accident
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when Mamlekar, driving a Mahindra Thar, lost control and collided with a bus. The impact left 13 passengers injured, along with the driver. The injured passengers have been identified as Vandan Sawant, Shrushti Aroskar, Sadhvi Redkar, Divya Desai, Shreya Desai, Tejasvi Desai, all from Dodamarg, while Surva Ghadi (Kasarpal), Neelam Zore, Sagi Jangale, Janee Zore, Sonam Jangale, Shanti Fale were from Maneri, and Sitaram Arondekar was from Hankhane.
Medical Response and Investigation
All injured individuals were promptly taken to the community health centre in Bicholim for treatment. The investigation is currently underway under the supervision of ASI Laximan Ghadi attached to the Dodamarg police outpost. Further details are awaited as the inquiry progresses.
