Beyond this peak period, police stations across Bhopal continue to register one to two cases of attempted murder or culpable homicide on a daily basis, indicating a persistent pattern of aggression.
A senior police officer emphasized the department's approach: "Whenever an individual commits an attack using knives or other sharp weapons, we ensure the accused is identified and charged under serious sections such as attempt to murder or attempt to commit culpable homicide. Our principal objective in applying these stringent sections is to create effective deterrents against such violent crimes."
Kotwali Stabbing Incident Highlights Ongoing Violence
In a recent case that exemplifies the troubling trend, two youths allegedly stabbed a 25-year-old man in Bhopal's Kotwali area on Thursday, March 12. The victim, identified as Mohammed Altaf, an electrician from Jawahar Colony in Aishbagh, sustained serious injuries to his head, back, and legs, requiring immediate hospitalization where he continues to undergo treatment.
Police investigation revealed that the attack appeared to stem from an old rivalry. According to Altaf's statement, he had previously filed a complaint against the accused individuals, Aman and Faizan, who had allegedly pressured him to withdraw the case. The violent confrontation occurred around 3:30 PM on Noor Mahal Road while Altaf was having his motorcycle repaired. Angered by his refusal to withdraw the complaint, the accused allegedly stabbed him multiple times before fleeing the scene. Authorities have registered an attempted murder case against the perpetrators.

However, whenever someone commits a crime using a knife or sharp weapon, we ensure they are booked under strict legal sections. Anyone carrying a knife has the potential to commit a serious crime, which is why strict action is necessary for deterrence. Our focus remains firmly on crime control and preventing the recurrence of such incidents."
