In a shocking and brutal incident, a 55-year-old farmer was murdered in his sleep in a village near Bhopal. The attack has sent waves of fear and grief through the local community, leaving a family devastated.
Details of the Brutal Night Attack
The victim, identified as Babulal Lodhi, was asleep in the courtyard shed of his home in Pipliya Kadeer village, located in the Gunga area. The tragedy unfolded late on Wednesday night, around 11 pm. An unidentified assailant approached the sleeping farmer and slit his throat using a heavy, knife-like weapon.
Babulal lived in the house with his wife and mother-in-law. His four daughters are married and live elsewhere, while his son is currently lodged in a jail in Vidisha in connection with a rape case.
Wife Discovers the Horrific Scene
The first to discover the gruesome scene was Babulal's wife. She was alerted by a noise that sounded like cats fighting. Upon investigating, she found her husband in a critical condition, vomiting blood from a deep wound on his neck. The weapon used is described as a baka-like knife, a type of heavy blade.
Immediately, the family raised an alarm. Sarjan Lodhi, the victim's son-in-law, alerted the police. Officers from the Gunga police station, led by SHO Krishna Thakur, rushed to the spot. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence.
