A shocking incident of domestic violence has rocked Khairaha village in Bihar's Bhojpur district, where a 35-year-old woman was allegedly shot by her husband on Thursday evening. The victim, identified as Lovely Singh, wife of Akash Kumar Singh, is currently fighting for her life at a private hospital in Ara.
Critical Condition and Medical Emergency
The victim sustained a gunshot wound directly to her forehead, resulting in severe bleeding and grievous brain injuries. Dr Vikash Singh, who is overseeing her treatment at the private medical facility, confirmed the gravity of the situation. "The woman's condition remains critical due to the nature of her injuries. We are arranging blood for emergency surgery to address the brain trauma," the doctor stated, highlighting the urgent medical intervention required.
Family Reveals Troubling Background
At the hospital, Sanjay Kumar Singh, father of the accused Akash Kumar Singh, spoke candidly to mediapersons about his son's behavior. "My son has been struggling with alcohol addiction for some time. He frequently engages in quarrels not only with his wife but also with his in-laws and even with us, his own family," he revealed. The father explained that despite repeated warnings and attempts to counsel him, Akash Kumar Singh had failed to reform.
Sanjay Kumar Singh detailed that the accused had returned home intoxicated on Wednesday, setting the stage for Thursday's violent outburst. "In an inebriated state on Thursday evening, he shot at his wife, leading to this tragic incident," he added, painting a picture of escalating domestic strife.
Police Investigation and Manhunt Underway
Following the shooting, a police team led by Dhangai SHO Vishwajeet Kumar swiftly arrived at the scene in Khairaha village. The officer confirmed that preliminary investigations point to domestic conflict as the primary motive behind the attack. "Prima facie, it appears that ongoing domestic strife triggered this violent act. The accused has fled the village, and our teams are conducting intensive raids to apprehend him," SHO Vishwajeet Kumar stated.
