Police in Bhiwani district have taken into custody a prominent farmer leader on serious charges involving a minor girl. The arrest has sparked local attention and highlights ongoing concerns over law and order.
Arrest and Allegations Against Ravi Azad
Ravi Azad was apprehended by the police on Wednesday in connection with a case registered under the Bahal police station area. The allegations against him are grave, including the molestation of a minor girl and the use of casteist slurs. According to the complaint, Azad had been behaving inappropriately with the girl on a regular basis.
The situation escalated on December 8, when the victim's father alleged that Azad, accompanied by two or three associates, attempted to commit a wrongful act with the girl. The group also tried to kidnap her using a vehicle and issued death threats to the family.
Police Investigation and Other Accused
Prior to Azad's arrest, the police had already taken three other individuals into custody in relation to the same incident. The arrested persons are:
- Namit (23), a resident of Sindhanwa village and a BA graduate.
- Mohit (19), a Class XII pass-out.
- Vikas (approx. 24), a resident of Gokalpura village and also a Class XII pass-out.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Aryan Chaudhary stated that the police investigation confirmed the presence of all three individuals in the vehicle on the day the alleged incident took place.
Public Reaction and Legal Proceedings
News of Azad's arrest led to a gathering of people outside the Siwani police station, where he was questioned. The crowd, however, dispersed following a request from the police authorities.
Bhiwani Superintendent of Police Sumit Kuhar informed that Ravi Azad was produced in court for further legal action following his arrest. The case is now proceeding through the judicial system.
In the period between the registration of the case and his arrest, Azad had organized a mahapanchayat in Bhiwani. During this gathering, he was seen folding his hands, seeking justice, and breaking down in tears. He publicly claimed that he was being portrayed as a rapist and that his social image and character were being "murdered."
The arrest of a public figure on such serious charges underscores the importance of a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served for all parties involved.
