In a decisive move against drug trafficking, the Gulabpura police in Bhilwara district on Saturday froze properties valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh belonging to a drug smuggler. The action was taken as part of a crackdown on illegal assets acquired through drug trafficking.
Action Under NDPS Act
Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh confirmed that the action was initiated against Labhchand (39), a resident of the Begu area in Chittorgarh district, under Section 68F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A special team led by Shahpura Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Arya executed the operation.
Financial Investigation Reveals Assets
During a detailed financial investigation, the police identified both movable and immovable assets that Labhchand had allegedly acquired through drug trafficking. The frozen assets include land and a tractor located in Umar village. Documents related to the seizure have been forwarded to the competent authority under the NDPS Act in New Delhi. Additionally, a notice was issued to the accused regarding the freezing of his properties.
Police revealed that Labhchand had previous cases registered against him. At the Aasind police station, he was booked for the seizure of over 22 quintals of poppy husk. In another case in Sriganganagar district, he was found in possession of 22 kilograms of opium.
Further investigations and legal proceedings are currently underway.
