Shocking CCTV Footage Exposes Brutal Animal Attack in Bengaluru
CCTV footage has captured a horrifying incident in Bengaluru where a man sexually assaulted a stray dog before killing it. The Puttenahalli police have launched a manhunt for the accused, identified as Nepal Kiran, a 30-year-old valet driver.
Graphic Details Emerge from JP Nagar Incident
The attack occurred between 1:25 am and 1:40 am on Friday near Brahma Bruce Pub in JP Nagar 7th Stage. According to the FIR, Kiran first caught a female stray dog estimated to be two months old. He then sexually assaulted the helpless animal on the roadside.
When the dog survived the initial assault, the accused escalated his violence. CCTV shows him throwing the dog against a compound wall. When that failed to kill the animal, he twisted its neck and trampled it to death.
Police Register Case Under Multiple Laws
The Puttenahalli police have registered a case under Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. They have also invoked Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for mischief by killing or maiming an animal.
"Efforts are on to trace him," a police officer confirmed. The accused stopped reporting to work at a local hotel on January 10, just one day after the brutal incident.
How the Crime Came to Light
Regular animal caregivers Vani Gopinath and Krishnamurthy discovered the dead dog and alerted animal welfare volunteers. Initially treated as a simple killing case, the sexual assault dimension emerged only after police examined CCTV footage from a nearby building.
Manjari Chaitanya, founder of NGO South Bangalore Cares, filed the formal complaint after reviewing the disturbing footage. A spot mahazar was conducted where investigators collected crucial details about the accused.
Broader Concerns About Public Safety
Chaitanya expressed grave concerns extending beyond animal welfare. "This is not just about a dog," she told The Indian Express. "Such acts indicate a dangerous mindset. People who commit such brutality pose a serious threat to women and children in vulnerable situations."
The South Division Animal Care Team and local NGOs have joined the investigation. Police continue their search for Nepal Kiran while examining all available evidence from the crime scene.
