Bengaluru Contractor Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife in Cash Dispute
A 40-year-old civil contractor was arrested in Bengaluru on Thursday after he allegedly stamped his homemaker wife to death at their residence in Nagasandra. The fatal incident followed a heated argument over money, according to police reports.
Violent Altercation Over Rs 2 Lakh Cash
The deceased, identified as 35-year-old Kavya D, was a mother of two children. Her husband, Dhariyappa, reportedly became enraged when she refused to return Rs 2 lakh that he had kept at home for purchasing construction raw materials. Investigators revealed that Kavya had taken the cash with the intention of handing it over to her elder brother.
When she steadfastly refused to return the money, Dhariyappa allegedly struck her on the head with significant force. After she collapsed from the blow, he then stood on her neck, ultimately causing her death through this brutal act.
Neighbors Alert Police After Discovering Tragedy
The violent incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Thursday when the couple's two children had stepped out of the home. Neighbors, alerted by the commotion coming from the residence, rushed in to discover Kavya dead on the floor.
"The neighbors immediately alerted the police after finding the woman deceased," said an investigating officer familiar with the case. "They acted quickly upon hearing the disturbance and made the grim discovery."
Swift Police Response Leads to Arrest
Peenya police responded promptly to the emergency call, though Dhariyappa had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived. Law enforcement officials launched an immediate manhunt for the suspect.
The investigating officer confirmed that Dhariyappa was subsequently apprehended by police following their swift investigative efforts. Authorities have registered a case of murder against the accused contractor.
