A local feud in Bathinda spiraled into a sprawling criminal investigation spanning multiple Indian states, culminating in the arrest of a dozen suspects linked to three separate murders. What began as a probe into the brutal killing of two brothers exploded into a high-stakes chase, exposing a chilling overlap of perpetrators across cases.
From Local Feud to Nationwide Manhunt
The saga started on the night of November 12 in Bathinda's Dhobiana Basti area. Two brothers, Dharminder and Jatinder, were attacked with sharp-edged weapons during a violent altercation. While Jatinder was declared dead upon arrival at a private hospital, his brother Dharminder fought for his life before succumbing to injuries on November 19.
Bathinda police swiftly registered a case and identified five youths as primary suspects. This marked the beginning of an extensive operation, with raids launched across Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi to track down the accused.
Arrests Unravel a Complex Crime Web
The coordinated raids yielded quick results. In Delhi, two accused individuals, Gurman and Noor, were apprehended on November 15. The net continued to tighten, leading to the arrest of another suspect named Prince on December 3. The final two accused from this case, Sukhpreet and Whisky, were taken into custody on December 25.
However, the investigation took a more complex turn. Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police Narinder Singh revealed that during the pan-India search for the brothers' killers, police cracked two other murder cases. From Tamil Nadu, on November 28, they arrested Manoj Ram, wanted for the killing of Mahavir Paswan in Bathinda on November 7, 2024.
Subsequently, a raid in Uttarakhand on November 30 led to the arrest of an individual named Karan. Another suspect, Anuj Kumar, was arrested from Bikaner, Rajasthan, on December 7.
A Chilling Nexus of Killers Exposed
The most startling revelation came as investigators pieced the connections together. One of the accused, Prince (also known as Bhaiya), was brought from Bathinda jail on production warrants. Police confirmed his involvement in two other killings—those of Mahavir Paswan and another victim named Shivam.
"In all, 12 accused have been arrested in the three murder cases where some of the accused are involved in more than one case," stated SSP Narinder Singh. This overlap of perpetrators across different murders pointed to a dangerous criminal nexus operating in the region, transforming a local incident into a multi-layered crime saga.
The police have emphasized that investigations are ongoing to uncover further links and potential motives behind this web of violence. The case underscores how determined police work, following leads across state borders, can unravel interconnected criminal activities.
