Bantwal Police Arrest Two Brothers with Rs 42.3 Lakh MDMA

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Bantwal Rural police arrested two brothers and seized MDMA worth Rs 42.3 lakh in Manchi village on Saturday. The accused were identified as Mohammed Nizamuddin, 30, and Mohammed Shaheem, 19, residents of Bolanthoor in Bantwal.

Details of the Seizure

Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a vehicle near Panjala Cross and recovered 423 grams of MDMA. In addition to the narcotic substance, three mobile phones and the vehicle used in the crime were also seized. The total value of the confiscated items is estimated to be Rs 46.2 lakh.

Investigation and Legal Action

During interrogation, the accused revealed that the MDMA was procured from an unidentified Nigerian national in Bengaluru. A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural police station under sections 8(C) read with 20(b)(ii)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and other possible links in the drug network.

The police have launched a detailed probe to identify the Nigerian national and dismantle the supply chain. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
