The deceased has been identified as Sudeep Pange, a resident of Savalagi village. The incident took place on the night of March 11 during the annual gathering of the government girls' high school. According to reports, Sudeep was allegedly sitting on the school terrace while the event was underway on the premises.
He was accused of pelting stones at girls and watching them while they were changing their dresses. Irked by his behavior, a group of youths allegedly assaulted him. The injured Sudeep was immediately admitted to the taluk hospital in Jamakhandi for treatment.

Unfortunately, Sudeep later died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the hospital. His brother filed a formal complaint at the Savalagi police station, naming Raju Mali, Vijay Savalagi, and Mallikarjun Mali as the accused.
