Azamgarh Police Conduct Three Separate Encounters, Arrest Wanted Criminals

In a series of late-night operations on Saturday, police in Azamgarh district successfully arrested three criminals who were wanted in serious cases, including cow slaughter, robbery, and attempted murder. The suspects sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the encounters and were subsequently hospitalized for treatment.

Details of the Police Actions

Providing details on Sunday, Azamgarh ASP (city) Madhuvan Kumar Singh outlined the events. The Gambhirpur police intercepted three individuals on a motorcycle carrying suspicious packets near the Djarnipur-Vishaya turning. Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted a U-turn, but their motorcycle slipped. In a bid to escape, they opened fire at the police team.

During the retaliatory action by police, one of the criminals was shot in the leg and apprehended, while the other two managed to flee. The injured suspect was identified as Shadab Ahmad, 40, from Kamrawa village. Police recovered 65 kg of beef, a pistol, cartridges, and a motorcycle from him. Shadab confessed that he, along with his brothers Sarfaraz and Rayees Ahmed, had butchered a stray animal and were en route to sell the meat.

Additional Arrests in Separate Incidents

In another incident, a team from the Tarwan police station arrested Ramesh Yadav, also known as Anar Yadav, following an exchange of fire in the Bahlolpur area. Police seized a firearm, cartridges, and a motorcycle from him. Yadav had been on the police radar since March 22, when he escaped after firing at an auto driver due to an old enmity.

Additionally, a looter named Dharmendra Singh, alias Abhishek, from Chaklalchan, was arrested after an exchange of fire with Kotwali police near Mohati Ghat. Police recovered stolen items, including a motorcycle, laptop, mobile phone, and bag, along with a firearm and cartridges. Singh was wanted for looting a laptop, mobile, and motorcycle on March 25.

These coordinated police actions highlight ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region, with all arrested individuals now in custody and facing legal proceedings.
