Late Night Journey Turns Deadly

The victims were returning from inspecting a work site late Monday night. They worked on an ongoing road construction project in the Aoudang area. While traveling along the Gouri Nagar–Mashing Road, local villagers attempted to stop their vehicle.

The villagers suspected the men were cattle lifters. During the confrontation, the vehicle met with an accident. It skidded off the road, leaving the occupants vulnerable.

Brutal Attack and Vehicle Torching

The mob then launched a violent assault on the men. They also set the vehicle on fire, causing severe burn injuries to all five occupants. Police stated the attack was swift and brutal.

Emergency services rushed all five victims to hospital immediately. One man, identified as Sikhna Jwhwlao Bismit alias Raja, succumbed to his injuries at the medical facility. He was the son-in-law of contractor Moranda Basumatary, who is associated with the road construction project.
