Ferozepur Police Station Witnesses Heated ASI-SHO Confrontation Over Accused Release

A major controversy has erupted at the Ferozepur City police station where a heated argument broke out between an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and the station house officer (SHO), with a video of the altercation circulating widely on social media platforms.

Dispute Over Investigation Interference and Accused Release

The confrontation reportedly began when ASI Raman Kumar objected to what he described as unwarranted interference by SHO Gurmeet Singh in an ongoing investigation. In the viral video footage, the ASI is clearly heard questioning, "Why do you interfere in my investigation? I had earlier asked you to take charge of the girl's file. Why didn't you do it then?"

The SHO responded by stating, "I don't appreciate this attitude as you are my subordinate," to which the ASI sharply retorted, "You are the SHO—conduct yourself like one."

ASI's Detailed Allegations Against SHO

ASI Kumar later provided a detailed account of the incident, alleging that the SHO humiliated him in front of police staff and members of the public. He claimed that during the ensuing scuffle, the SHO even broke his nameplate.

According to the ASI's version of events, he had apprehended an individual in connection with a case involving a physical altercation and brought the accused to the police station after obtaining all necessary orders. He alleged that SHO Gurmeet Singh then instructed him to release the accused without providing any explanation.

"I don't know whether the SHO received a call from a senior officer or whether the accused is personally known to him," the ASI stated, further alleging that the SHO entered his office and forcibly pulled the accused away while he was in the middle of questioning him.

"If he wanted to discuss the matter, he could have called me to his office," he added, confirming that he had reported the entire incident to senior police officials.

SHO's Complete Denial and Counter-Allegations

In stark contrast, SHO Gurmeet Singh has categorically denied all allegations, asserting that no such dispute ever took place at the police station. He pointed to the comprehensive CCTV surveillance system installed throughout the police station as evidence that would establish the facts.

"The entire police station is under CCTV surveillance as mandated by the Supreme Court and the high court. Let an inquiry be conducted. If I am found at fault, action should be taken against me," the SHO declared.

He further stated that if found innocent through proper investigation, he would seek disciplinary action against the ASI for alleged misconduct and disrespect toward a senior officer.

Senior Police Administration Responds

Ferozepur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu confirmed that the matter has been brought to his attention and that a detailed report has been sought from the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The SSP emphasized that police discipline would be maintained at all costs and that strict departmental action would be initiated against any officials found to be at fault. He specifically noted that if the ASI had any legitimate complaint, he should have brought the matter to the concerned DSP instead of arguing with his SHO in public and in the presence of media.

The incident has raised serious questions about police protocol and hierarchy within the Ferozepur police department, with both officers presenting completely contradictory versions of what transpired at the police station.
