Paresh Rawal Condemns Social Media Negativity, Urges Positivity
Veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal, renowned for his outspoken nature, has recently voiced strong concerns about the escalating negativity on social media platforms. In a candid interaction, he urged users to exercise greater mindfulness in their online posts, emphasizing the need for a more positive digital environment.
Rawal's Blunt Comparison: Social Media as a 'Puking Pot'
Sharing his unfiltered perspective, Rawal likened social media to a 'puking pot', highlighting how individuals often express harsh and thoughtless opinions without considering the consequences. Speaking to PTI, he stressed the importance of curbing negativity and fostering constructive dialogue.
'I am trying to improve myself. In my opinion, social media is like a puking pot. It says what it wants to say. It should not be like that. Negativity should not spread. You have no right to say anything about anyone. Even if you are sure that the person is wrong, you have no right to criticise or demean them or tarnish their image. But I am saying all these things, and I am listening to myself. And I have done very little,' Rawal stated, reflecting on his own role in promoting positivity.
Rawal's Personal Struggle with Online Hate and Limits
Rawal further admitted that online hate occasionally affects him, but he makes a conscious effort to maintain boundaries. 'Sometimes when I get angry, I get angry. But still, I keep a limit. I never abuse. Social media is a good medium to spread positivity. If there is negativity, stay away from it,' he added, advocating for a more restrained and positive approach to digital interactions.
Recent Online Exchange Over 'Dhurandhar' Film
The actor was recently involved in a heated online exchange after responding to a post criticizing the film 'Dhurandhar'. The incident began when a radio jockey shared a reel on X, featuring a sarcastic and humorous take on the movie, captioning it, 'Hahahaha. Best review of Dhurandhar!'
Rawal's sharp reply, 'Your job as a stupid reporter is secured. Nobody wants it,' quickly drew a reaction. The RJ corrected him, pushing back with, 'Get your facts right. I am not a reporter. You are just an actor, hugely distant from your art in real life.'
Rawal's Praise for 'Dhurandhar' Film Series
Despite the controversy, Rawal expressed high praise for the 'Dhurandhar' film series during an interview with Jagran. 'I am extremely impressed with ‘Dhurandhar’. I absolutely loved the film. I still haven’t gotten over it. I have already watched the first ‘Dhurandhar’ twice and have seen ‘Dhurandhar 2’ twice as well. I feel like going and watching it once more,' he said.
He further elaborated, 'The first part was entertaining, but the second ‘Dhurandhar’ is packed with so much detail that viewers will thoroughly enjoy it. After watching, you realise there are multiple layers to it. Only when you see the film do you understand what each reference it is pointing towards.'
This incident underscores the broader challenges of online discourse, as Rawal continues to advocate for a more respectful and positive social media landscape while sharing his genuine appreciation for cinematic works.
