Acting on a critical lead, police personnel detained the accused from the Salt Lake area, located near Kolkata, late on Thursday evening. The suspect is currently under interrogation as authorities work to unravel the motive and details behind the threatening communication.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the accused did not limit himself to one channel of communication. He is alleged to have sent menacing messages not only via email but also directly to the official WhatsApp number of Lok Bhavan, the governor's official residence. The alarming situation came to the fore on Thursday night when Governor Bose received an email containing a direct warning of an attempt to "blast" him. Governor Bose, who already benefits from the highest-tier Z-plus security cover, saw his protection detail substantially reinforced.
