Bold Robbery Near Police Station: Armed Criminals Target Retired Surgeon's Home in Jamui

In a brazen incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, five masked and armed miscreants executed a meticulously planned robbery at the residence of retired civil surgeon Dr Vijayendra Satyarthi in Gidhaur block of Jamui district on Monday. The criminals made off with jewellery and cash estimated to be worth around Rs 12 lakh, but what makes this case particularly alarming is the location of the crime scene—just 10 metres away from the Gidhaur police station.

Hostage Situation and Sedative Administration

The terrifying ordeal began when the armed intruders entered Dr Vijayendra's house early in the morning. They immediately took the doctor, his wife Pushpam Satyarthi, and their son hostage at gunpoint, creating a climate of fear and helplessness. According to Dr Vijayendra's detailed account to authorities, the robbers then proceeded to administer sedatives through injections, deliberately rendering the entire family unconscious.

This calculated move allowed the criminals to thoroughly search the premises without resistance. After completing their looting operation, they fled the scene, leaving the sedated family members in a vulnerable state. The family remained unconscious for a considerable period before gradually regaining partial consciousness, at which point they realized the magnitude of what had transpired.

Chilling Revelations and Police Investigation

When Dr Vijayendra's son eventually communicated with law enforcement, he revealed a disturbing detail: the criminals claimed they had received specific information about Rs 80 lakh being kept in the house. Even more chilling was their additional confession—they admitted to having received a contract to eliminate the family but decided to spare them because they considered them "good people." Instead, they demanded the substantial cash amount.

The unconscious family members were promptly rushed to Jamui Sadar Hospital for urgent medical treatment following the incident. A police team led by Jamui SP Vishwajeet Dayal immediately visited the crime scene to gather evidence and initiate investigations. Additional SHO of Gidhaur police station Jayprakash Kumar Singh confirmed that when police personnel reached the residence, all family members were found unconscious and required immediate hospitalization.

Ongoing Investigation and Security Concerns

Law enforcement authorities have formed a special investigation team dedicated to solving this high-profile case and apprehending the accused individuals. Police are meticulously examining CCTV footage from the area, which captures the incident occurring between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM on Monday. The footage is expected to provide crucial visual evidence that could lead to identifying the perpetrators.

This incident raises serious questions about security in residential areas, particularly given the proximity to a police station. The criminals' use of sedative injections, their detailed knowledge about the household, and their brazen operation near law enforcement facilities suggest a highly organized criminal enterprise. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the sequence of events and track down those responsible for this traumatic home invasion.
