Father Arrested in Amreli After Burying Son's Body for 1.5 Months
Amreli: Father arrested for murdering, burying son

A shocking case of patricide has been uncovered in Gujarat's Amreli district, where a father allegedly murdered his own son and concealed the body for over a month and a half. The Dhari police made the grim discovery on Thursday, arresting the accused father after recovering the buried remains from an agricultural field.

The Gruesome Discovery

The crime came to light not through a missing person's report, but due to an unbearable stench. Farm labourers working on the outskirts of Bhader village in Dhari taluka reported a strong foul smell emanating from a field. Their subsequent probing and digging led to the horrifying discovery of a human body, prompting them to immediately alert the local police.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jayveer Gadhvi of the Dhari division confirmed the sequence of events. The police were alerted by the labourers, and an investigation was swiftly launched. The exhumed body was later identified as 28-year-old Hitesh Sejaliya, a resident of the same Bhader village.

A Father's Alleged Frustration Turns Fatal

Police investigations pieced together a tragic domestic narrative leading to the murder. According to officials, Hitesh Sejaliya was unmarried and struggled with alcohol addiction. This addiction frequently led to heated arguments and domestic disputes with his parents, Vashram and his wife.

The situation allegedly reached a breaking point on November 24, around 9 pm, at the family's residence. Investigators suspect that Vashram, frustrated and pushed to the edge by his son's behaviour under the influence of alcohol, strangled Hitesh with a rope. In a bid to hide his crime, Vashram then transported the body and buried it on the fringes of an agricultural field, where it remained hidden for approximately 45 days.

Legal Repercussions and Case Registration

Following the recovery of the body and preliminary investigation, the police took Vashram Sejaliya into custody. An FIR has been officially registered against him at the Dhari police station. The complaint was filed by Inspector K B Jadeja.

The accused has been charged under Section 103(1) of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with murder. The case highlights a devastating breakdown of familial bonds and the extreme consequences of unresolved domestic conflict and addiction. The police continue their investigation into the precise motives and the full timeline of events.
