In a disturbing incident in Haryana's Fatehabad district, unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalised a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at a park within the Government Girls Senior Secondary School complex in Ratia town on Saturday night.
Details of the Vandalism
According to the Fatehabad Superintendent of Police spokesperson, a case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 196 (promoting enmity) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Locals reported that the spectacles on Ambedkar's statue were removed and thrown to the ground, and a nearby poster was torn. The damage was noticed by morning walkers on Sunday.
Community Outrage
People associated with the Scheduled Caste community gathered at the site and expressed anger over the repeated acts of vandalism. Prem Khokhar, president of the Ambedkar Sabha in Ratia, stated that a similar incident had occurred on April 27. He added that a meeting of community members has been convened to decide the future course of action.
Khokhar warned that if the administration fails to take firm action against the anti-social elements involved, the community would launch an agitation. The incident has sparked tension in the area, and authorities are investigating the matter.
