Ambedkar Nagar Encounter: Prime Accused in Murder of Woman and Four Children Killed
Ambedkar Nagar: Murder Accused Killed in Encounter

CHENNAI: Aamir Ahmad (20), identified as the prime accused in the murder of a woman, Gaasiya Khaaton (35), and her four children, was killed in an encounter with the Ambedkar Nagar police on Monday.

According to police, Aamir was attempting to flee towards Nepal when a police team intercepted him. He was on bail in a separate murder case and allegedly killed Khatoon and her children over a property dispute. Police also revealed that the accused was pressuring the victim to marry him.

Shifting Police Versions

The case saw multiple shifts in police accounts over the weekend. When the children's bodies were discovered on Saturday, police initially claimed that the mother had killed them and fled, issuing her photographs in adjoining districts to seek information. About 24 hours later, her body was recovered, and police stated that she had died by suicide, citing the absence of injury marks.

Fresh Leads Emerge

Ambedkar Nagar Superintendent of Police Prachi Singh said that new evidence emerged from mobile phone data, CCTV footage, local inputs, and preliminary forensic findings, suggesting the presence of a male member at the crime scene of the four children.

Singh stated that Aamir Ahmad, who lived about 400 meters from the victim's house, was allegedly pressuring Gaasiya Khaaton to marry him with the intention of taking over her property. “When she refused, he allegedly murdered her first and then her four children,” Singh said.

Surveillance and Interception

According to the SP, locals had overheard an argument when Aamir visited the woman a day before the children's bodies were found, and surveillance footage corroborated his presence. The SP said he was again seen at the house on the day of the murder and later spotted riding a motorcycle, while the crime scene also indicated the presence of a male.

Police said Aamir went missing after the incident, and a team was formed on Sunday evening to trace him. Acting on specific inputs, he was intercepted around 5 a.m. near the Nevteria bypass under Akbarpur Kotwali limits.

The encounter has brought a swift end to the manhunt for the prime suspect in this gruesome case, which had shocked the local community.
