Ambala Police Uncover Major Liquor Smuggling Operation
In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the Ambala police have successfully intercepted and seized a large consignment of illicit liquor. The operation, which took place on Thursday night, resulted in the recovery of 1,149 boxes of liquor from a truck near Khudda Khurd village in Ambala Cantonment.
Details of the Seizure and Arrest
Acting on a credible tip-off, authorities were alerted that liquor was being smuggled in a truck destined for Yamunanagar. Promptly, a check-post was established near Khudda Khurd village to intercept the vehicle. During a thorough inspection, police discovered the liquor boxes cleverly concealed under bags of dry fodder.
The truck driver, identified as Shera, a resident of Rajasthan, was taken into custody by the Ambala police on Friday. Mahesh Nagar Police Station SHO Jitender Dhillon confirmed that both the liquor boxes and the truck have been seized, and a formal case has been registered in connection with the incident.
Investigation and Smuggling Route
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that the liquor was being smuggled from Punjab to Odisha. This revelation points to a potentially larger interstate smuggling network operating across regions. The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat such illegal trade activities, which often evade taxation and regulatory controls.
The Ambala police have emphasized their commitment to intensifying vigilance and taking strict action against those involved in smuggling operations. This bust serves as a warning to other potential offenders in the area.
