A short visit to a relative's home turned into a nightmare for a young CA student and his mother in Ahmedabad when burglars targeted their house in Fatehwadi, making off with gold and crucial documents.
Family Returns to Ransacked Home
On the night of Sunday, January 2, 20-year-old Ziyankhan Pathan and his mother Naseemabanu locked their house and left for Juhapura to visit a relative. When they returned around 2:30 AM, they were met with a distressing sight. The lock on the main door was missing, and the lights were on inside. Upon entering, they discovered their home had been thoroughly ransacked.
Stolen Jewellery and Documents
The thieves focused their efforts on a cupboard, which they broke into. According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed with Vejalpur police, the stolen items include:
- A gold chain weighing approximately 20 grams, valued at Rs 1.2 lakh.
- Three gold rings with a combined weight of around 10 grams, worth Rs 60,000.
- A pair of silver earrings valued at Rs 6,000.
The total estimated value of the stolen jewellery is Rs 1.9 lakh. In a significant additional loss, Ziyankhan's wallet was also taken, containing his Aadhaar card, PAN card, and driving licence.
Investigation Launched by Police
The Vejalpur police have registered a formal case of burglary and have initiated an investigation. The incident highlights the vulnerabilities faced by families. Ziyankhan, a CA student, lives in the house with his mother. His father has been working in Kuwait for the past 25 years. The burglary occurred within a couple of hours, indicating the thieves were likely monitoring the house.
This break-in has not only resulted in substantial financial loss but also the immense hassle of replacing vital identity documents. The police are examining evidence and pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits responsible for this brazen theft.
