Parking Dispute Escalates into Brutal Assault in Ahmedabad
A minor parking disagreement near Vaishnodevi Circle in Ahmedabad spiraled into a violent confrontation in the early hours of Monday, resulting in a 32-year-old travel businessman being left critically injured and unconscious. The Sola police have taken swift action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) against two individuals on charges of attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt, and abetment.
Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Saurabh Bhatt, was attacked outside a local café around 12:15 am, as detailed in a formal complaint lodged by his father. According to police accounts, Bhatt's friend, Jigar Panchal, who was present during the altercation, provided investigators with a harrowing narrative of the events. Panchal explained that he received an urgent call from another friend, Ajay Lohar, alerting him to a quarrel involving Bhatt over parking his vehicle in the café's designated area.
Upon arriving at the scene, Panchal witnessed Bhatt entering the adjacent snooker club area while carrying a stick and confronting those involved in the dispute. At this juncture, one of the accused, Vicky, allegedly confronted Bhatt directly, while the other accused, Vishvaraj Zala, is said to have grabbed Bhatt from behind. In the ensuing scuffle, Vicky reportedly snatched the stick from Bhatt and proceeded to strike him repeatedly on the head and face.
Severity of the Assault
The assault did not cease even after Bhatt collapsed to the ground, with the attackers continuing to deliver blows to his head, face, and thigh. Panchal further alleged that when he attempted to intervene and stop the violence, Vicky slapped him and persisted with the brutal attack. "The blows were so severe that Bhatt collapsed and became unresponsive," Panchal recounted to the police, highlighting the ferocity of the incident.
Bhatt was rushed to a private hospital located near Vaishnodevi Circle for emergency medical treatment. Doctors attending to him informed the family that he had suffered a hemorrhage on both sides of the brain, along with fractures extending from the right cheek to the left cheek and ear, in addition to other significant injuries.
Aftermath and Legal Action
Another friend of Bhatt, Yash Barot, alerted the family about the incident in the early morning hours, prompting the immediate filing of the complaint. In response, the Sola police officially registered an FIR against Vicky and Vishvaraj Zala, charging them with attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt, and abetment. This case underscores the potential for seemingly trivial disputes to escalate into life-threatening situations, raising concerns about public safety and conflict resolution in urban areas.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather further evidence and ensure justice is served for the victim and his family. The community has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent such violent outbreaks in the future.
