In a shocking incident from Agra, a man stands accused of brutally murdering his wife and then attempting to mislead authorities by staging the scene to look like a fatal robbery. The grim event unfolded in Nayabas village under the jurisdiction of the Achhnera police station.
The Fatal Night and a Staged Crime Scene
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred on Monday night. Khaman Singh and his wife, Sanju Devi, were involved in a heated argument. In a subsequent fit of rage, Singh allegedly took a heavy iron object and struck Devi multiple times on the head. The assault proved fatal, and she died on the spot.
In a desperate bid to evade responsibility, Singh allegedly concocted a story. He told villagers that unknown miscreants had broken into their home, committed a robbery, and killed his wife during the process. This was his attempt to pass off the murder as the work of external assailants.
Villagers and Police Unravel the Deception
The accused's plan began to fall apart early on Tuesday morning. The couple's elder son, upon being informed, asked acquaintances in the village to check on the house. Around 5 am on Tuesday, villagers arrived at the scene and made the grisly discovery.
They found Sanju Devi lying in a pool of blood, having sustained severe head injuries. Crucially, a bloodstained iron object was found lying next to her body. Villagers also informed the police that Singh was known to be an alcoholic and was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Legal Proceedings Begin Against the Accused
Police scrutiny quickly exposed inconsistencies in Singh's statements. The physical evidence at the scene directly contradicted his robbery narrative. "The accused's statements were inconsistent, and the physical evidence at the scene corroborates the suspicion that the murder was committed by Singh," stated a police officer involved in the investigation.
Achhnera ACP Shailendra Singh confirmed that Khaman Singh has been identified as the accused. An First Information Report (FIR) has been officially registered under BNS section 103 (1), which pertains to murder. Legal proceedings are now underway against him.
This tragic case from Agra highlights a severe instance of alleged domestic violence culminating in homicide, and the subsequent failed attempt by the accused to obstruct justice by fabricating a false crime scene.
