Vadodara Accountant Apprehended for Multi-Crore Corporate Fraud

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in Vadodara has successfully arrested Rakesh Parmar, an accountant accused of orchestrating a massive financial fraud amounting to Rs 14 crore against a private company. This arrest concludes an intensive 12-day manhunt that began after a formal complaint was lodged at the Bapod police station.

Details of the Elaborate Fraud Scheme

According to police officials, Parmar, who served as an accountant at a company located in Sardar Estate, exploited his trusted position within the organization. From 2022 onwards, he systematically manipulated financial records to create fictitious purchase transactions worth crores of rupees. These fraudulent entries were designed to appear legitimate, allowing him to siphon off substantial funds directly into his personal bank accounts.

The scheme remained undetected for an extended period, enabling Parmar to divert significant resources without raising immediate suspicion. It was only when the company conducted a thorough internal audit or review that the discrepancies and fraudulent activities came to light, prompting swift action.

The Manhunt and Arrest

Upon discovery of the fraud, Parmar immediately went into hiding, evading authorities for nearly two weeks. The DCB launched a comprehensive search operation, leveraging intelligence and investigative techniques to track his movements. He was eventually traced to a remote village in the Aravalli district, where a specialized DCB team moved in to apprehend him without incident.

This case highlights the critical role of corporate vigilance and law enforcement collaboration in tackling white-collar crimes. The arrest sends a strong message about the consequences of financial misconduct and the dedication of Vadodara police in pursuing justice, even in complex fraud cases involving large sums of money.
