The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad has registered a significant case of disproportionate assets against a joint sub-registrar from Rangareddy district, leading to his arrest on Friday. The accused, identified as Kandadi Madhusudhan Reddy, aged 50, who served as joint sub-registrar (SRO-1) of Rangareddy district, is currently under suspension. This action follows an earlier case registered by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in November 2025, which involved a fraudulent land deal in Gachibowli.
Details of the Disproportionate Assets Case
According to ACB officials, the investigation unearthed disproportionate assets valued at Rs 7.83 crore, with an estimated market value soaring to approximately Rs 60 crore. After the EOW case was filed, the ACB received confidential information regarding the alleged corrupt activities of the accused. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, ACB teams conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations on Friday.
Raids and Seizures Conducted by ACB
The searches targeted Reddy's residence in Bhavani Nagar Colony, Kapra, along with seven other premises connected to his relatives, friends, alleged benamis, and business associates. During these operations, investigators uncovered a substantial cache of assets, including a triplex house constructed on a 300 square yard plot in Bhavani Nagar, a plot in Chintapallyguda village of Ibrahimpatnam, and 27 acres of agricultural land in Naskal village, Parigi mandal, Vikarabad district.
Additionally, the ACB seized one acre of commercial land in Mangalpally village, Ibrahimpatnam, and a luxurious farmhouse equipped with a swimming pool in Naskal, valued at Rs 1.2 crore. The raids also yielded about Rs 9 lakh in cash and 1.2 kilograms of gold ornaments. Furthermore, three high-end vehicles were confiscated: a Toyota Innova Fortuner, a Volvo XC 60 B5, and a Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus.
Market Value and Financial Scrutiny
An ACB official emphasized that while the documented value of the movable and immovable properties stands at Rs 7.83 crore, the current market price is likely to be significantly higher, around Rs 60 crore. Preliminary inquiries have revealed that Reddy invested nearly Rs 80 lakh in a liquor venture named ARK Spirits and established two shell companies under the names of his wife and children.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
Reddy has been formally charged under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He is scheduled to be produced before the ACB court for remand proceedings. The ACB has stated that further verification of assets and detailed scrutiny of financial records are currently in progress to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
ACB's Appeal to the Public
In light of this case, the ACB has reiterated its commitment to combating corruption. The bureau urges citizens to report any instances of bribery demands by public servants. Individuals can contact the ACB through its toll-free number 1064, via WhatsApp at 9440446106, or through social media platforms such as Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X (@Telangana).
This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Hyderabad to tackle corruption and ensure accountability among public officials. The ACB's proactive measures highlight the importance of vigilance and public cooperation in maintaining integrity within government institutions.
