ACB Nabs Treasury Clerk in Fatehabad Bribery Sting Operation
In a decisive move against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday apprehended a treasury clerk in the act of accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 within the Mini Secretariat complex located in Fatehabad. The arrested individual has been identified as Hiralal, whose actions have sparked a significant investigation into misconduct within the treasury department.
Details of the Corruption Case
The incident unfolded when Sunil Bishnoi, a Veterinary Livestock Development Assistant (VLDA) stationed at the animal hospital near Jawahar Chowk, purchased medicines amounting to approximately Rs 49,000. Following standard procedures, Bishnoi submitted the bills to the treasury department for clearance and reimbursement.
However, the accused clerk, Hiralal, repeatedly delayed the processing of these bills. When Bishnoi confronted him to expedite the matter, Hiralal allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 as a condition for approving the bills. This unethical demand left Bishnoi distressed and prompted him to take immediate action against the corruption.
ACB's Swift Response and Trap
Troubled by the bribe demand, Bishnoi filed a formal complaint with the ACB. The bureau promptly verified the allegations and orchestrated a meticulous trap to catch the clerk in the act. On Wednesday, as part of the operation, Bishnoi was sent to the treasury office with marked currency notes.
The plan succeeded when Hiralal accepted the money, at which point the ACB team swiftly intervened and arrested him on the spot. This operation highlights the bureau's commitment to rooting out corruption in government offices.
Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation
A case has been registered against Hiralal under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. ACB officials have confirmed that further investigation is actively underway to uncover any additional details or potential accomplices in this case. The arrest serves as a stern warning to public servants engaging in corrupt practices.
This incident underscores the persistent challenges of corruption in administrative processes and the critical role of vigilant citizens and law enforcement in combating such malpractices.
