9 Held in Ludhiana Drug Bust Following Landlord Complaint

In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Ludhiana police have apprehended nine individuals following a crucial tip-off from an alert landlord. The operation, which unfolded in the Haibowal area, led to the seizure of heroin and cash, exposing a drug peddling network operating from a rented accommodation.

Landlord's Vigilance Leads to Major Breakthrough

The chain of events was set in motion when a landlord, harboring suspicions about his tenant's activities, approached the police. He alleged that the rented room was being misused for drug peddling. Acting swiftly on this information, a police team from Division Number 5 police station conducted a raid on the premises located in Haibowal's Kucha No. 5.

The raid proved fruitful. The police team recovered 10 grams of heroin from the spot. Alongside the narcotics, a sum of Rs 9,500 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illicit trade, was also confiscated. The primary accused, identified as the tenant, was immediately taken into custody.

Police Net Widens, Eight More Arrested

Investigations did not stop with the initial arrest. During interrogation, the detained tenant provided information that allowed the police to widen their net. Based on the leads, the authorities conducted follow-up operations and succeeded in arresting eight more individuals connected to the drug racket.

The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. All nine accused were presented before a local court, which remanded them to police custody to facilitate further investigation. The police are now probing the supply chain and potential links to larger drug syndicates.

Community Role Praised, Police Issue Warning

Senior police officials have lauded the landlord's civic sense and courage in reporting the suspicious activity. They emphasized that such cooperation from the public is invaluable in the fight against the drug menace plaguing the region. The Ludhiana police have reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking.

This incident serves as a stern warning to property owners to remain vigilant about their tenants' activities. Authorities have urged citizens to report any dubious behavior to the police immediately, assuring them of confidentiality and action. The successful bust underscores the effectiveness of community-police collaboration in maintaining law and order.
