Bengaluru: A 62-year-old housekeeping staff member, Ramappa M, died after falling from the roof of a warehouse in the city. The incident occurred on Monday, and the showroom manager has been booked in connection with the case.
Victim Had Worked for Five Years
Ramappa M, a native of Bagepalli, had been employed at the showroom for the past five years, according to police. He was performing cleaning duties on the warehouse roof when he slipped and fell to his death.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Following the incident, the police registered a case against the showroom manager under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Authorities are investigating whether adequate safety measures were in place for workers at height.
“We have booked the manager for negligence leading to death. Further inquiry is ongoing to determine if safety protocols were violated,” said a police official.
Safety Concerns Raised
The incident has raised questions about workplace safety, particularly for housekeeping staff working in hazardous conditions. Labour rights activists have called for stricter enforcement of safety norms in warehouses and commercial establishments.
