In a significant development in a case of brutal assault that led to a murder, the Peeplu police in Rajasthan's Tonk district have made six additional arrests. The arrests are connected to a planned attack on two youths in Gahlod village on December 17, an incident allegedly involving members of a gravel mafia.
Case Escalates to Murder After Victim Succumbs
The violent episode, rooted in an old rivalry, saw a group of assailants armed with sticks and iron rods target Kalu Jat and Mukesh Jat. While both sustained severe injuries, Mukesh Jat's condition was critical. He later died during treatment on December 24, a week after the assault. Following his death, the police added murder charges to the existing case, elevating its gravity.
Special Investigation Team Cracks Down
Taking serious note of the incident, Tonk Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kumar Meena constituted a special team to probe the case from all angles. The team's investigation led to the latest crackdown. With the arrest of these six individuals, the total number of accused held in connection with the attack has now risen to ten.
The six individuals apprehended on Friday have been identified as Mohammad Arbaz, Asif Khan, Imran Khan, Naved Khan alias Boxer, Abdul Rahim, and Ramkunwar Gurjar Barpada. Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and the involvement of the alleged gravel mafia in the region.
