Chandrapur Tragedy: 4 Family Members Killed in Car Plunge Near Sondo Village
4 of Telangana family die as car falls off bridge in Chandrapur

A late-night journey back home turned into a nightmare for a family from Telangana, resulting in the tragic deaths of four members, including a 12-year-old girl. The accident occurred shortly past midnight on Wednesday when their speeding vehicle veered off a bridge and plunged into a nullah near Sondo village in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district.

Details of the Fatal Crash

The group, hailing from Kagaznagar in Telangana's Asifabad district, had travelled to Nagpur on December 24 to visit an ailing relative. They were returning home when the crash happened just after 12:30 am. According to the Rajura police, the driver, Abdul Rahman, was driving the vehicle (TS02/EN5544) at high speed. He lost control while crossing a nullah bridge, causing the car to fall into the water body below.

Victims and Rescue Efforts

The deceased have been identified as Salma Begum (45), her daughter Aksa Shabreen (12), and relatives Afzal Begum (60) and Sahira Begum (42). Alerted by the loud crash, local residents rushed to the scene and helped police personnel pull out the injured from the mangled vehicle.

All nine occupants were first taken to the Rajura sub-district hospital. Doctors declared the four women dead on arrival. The five seriously injured individuals—Nusrat Begum (48), Najhat Begum (50), Shaheen Nisha (37), Abdul Arman (7), and driver Abdul Rahman—were later shifted to the Chandrapur Government Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.

Police Investigation and Complaint

A formal complaint was filed by Mohammad Anas Hussain, the son of the deceased Salma Begum. In his police statement, Anas alleged that the driver's negligent and reckless handling of the vehicle led to the tragic accident. The Rajura police have registered a case and initiated a detailed inquiry under the supervision of Police Inspector Sumit Parteki, with PSI Parag Ullewar.

Authorities are also examining CCTV footage from the area to gather more information about the circumstances leading to the crash. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and sequence of events.
