A tragic road accident in the early hours of Saturday morning resulted in the death of four individuals and left one critically injured. The collision occurred between a private car and a state-run bus amid dense fog conditions in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district.

The fatal incident took place at Dhoot Kalan village on the Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road. Around 6 am, a car carrying five people collided head-on with a Punjab Roadways bus. The bus was operating from Dasuya to Hoshiarpur and belonged to the Pathankot depot.
Police confirmed that the car was being driven by Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Chalet village in Una district, Himachal Pradesh. He was accompanied by three friends and his son. They were on a journey from their home to Amritsar airport to drop off his son, Amrit Kumar.
Victims and Aftermath
The impact of the collision in the low-visibility conditions proved fatal for four occupants of the car. The deceased have been identified as:
- Sukhwinder Singh (driver)
- Sushil Kumar
- Brij Kumar
- Arun Kumar
Amrit Kumar, the son, survived the crash but sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The condition of the bus driver and passengers is currently being ascertained.
Police Action and Ongoing Investigation
Following the accident, local law enforcement officials reached the spot and initiated an investigation. A case has been officially registered against the bus driver, Sukhwinder Singh, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The primary focus of the inquiry is to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the collision in the dense fog.
This incident has once again highlighted the severe dangers of driving during winter fog in northern India. Poor visibility significantly increases the risk of such catastrophic accidents on highways and rural roads. Authorities often advise drivers to exercise extreme caution, use fog lights, and reduce speed during early morning and late evening hours in the winter season.
