The new year began on a violent note in the national capital, with three separate stabbing incidents claiming three lives across different parts of Delhi on Wednesday. The victims included a minor boy and a middle-aged tailor, sending shockwaves through the city.
Teenager Killed in Sultan Puri Altercation
In the first tragic incident, a 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed late Wednesday night in the C Block of Sultan Puri. Police received a distress call around 10:40 pm informing them about the attack. The injured teenager was rushed to SGM Hospital in Mangolpuri, but doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
Investigations led to the swift arrest of the main accused, identified as Vikram (30), a resident of Sultan Puri. The weapon used in the crime, a knife, was also recovered from him. During interrogation, Vikram revealed that two of his accomplices were present at the scene. Police teams are actively working to trace and apprehend them.
E-Rickshaw Driver Murdered in Mangolpuri
In a second case rooted in old enmity, a 20-year-old e-rickshaw driver named Vikas was stabbed to death in Mangolpuri's D Block. The violence erupted from a quarrel over a minor issue. Vikas was sitting with his acquaintance, Sandeep (20), when a group of youths approached them and an argument began.
The dispute quickly escalated, leading to Vikas being stabbed. Sandeep sustained minor injuries in the scuffle. Following the incident, law enforcement acted promptly, apprehending four minors and arresting two adults in connection with the murder.
Tailor Killed After Slapping Minor in Adarsh Nagar
The third stabbing was reported from Adarsh Nagar, where a 50-year-old tailor, Bihari Lal, lost his life following a minor altercation. Lal, a resident of Azadpur, was taken to BJRM Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police preliminary findings suggest that Lal allegedly slapped a minor boy during an argument. In a fit of rage, the boy retaliated by stabbing him. The minor boy has been apprehended and the weapon used in the offence has been seized by the authorities.
Fourth Incident: Property Dealer Found Dead
In an unrelated but grim discovery on Thursday, the partly burnt body of a 38-year-old property dealer, Bhupender, was found near a farm house in Lampur village, Narela. Police noted that he had been bleeding from his head. Evidence collected from the scene included an unburnt Rs 500 note in a container and his mobile phone, which have been seized for investigation.
The series of violent incidents on the first day of the year has raised serious concerns about law and order in the capital. Police investigations are ongoing in all cases to uncover the complete motives and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
