The trouble began on Tuesday in the Malwani area. A dispute erupted between two local residents—a man and a woman. Given the area's sensitive nature, Riot Control Police (RCP) personnel, who routinely patrol the locality, intervened. The police team moved to rescue the woman and subsequently detained the man involved in the quarrel. They advised the woman to formally approach the Malwani Police station to register a complaint.
However, the situation escalated dramatically when friends of the detained man gathered at the scene. This group then proceeded to manhandle and verbally abuse the on-duty police officers. The brazen act of defiance against law enforcement was captured on video by bystanders, and these clips soon went viral, causing widespread concern.
Police Response and Arrests Made
Following the incident and the circulation of the videos, the Malwani Police registered a formal First Information Report (FIR). The FIR has been lodged against a total of five persons for their roles in the attack on the police team.
By Wednesday, the police had successfully intercepted the accused. During the apprehension, one of the individuals reportedly refused to sit in the police vehicle. As a result, he had to be escorted on foot to the Malwani police station.
