In a significant operation, Bengaluru police raided a granite quarry on the outskirts of the city and seized 250 gelatin sticks and 50 detonators. The raid was conducted based on a tip-off about illegal storage of explosives at the site.
Details of the Raid
The police team, acting on intelligence, stormed the quarry located in the suburbs of Bengaluru. During the search, they discovered the gelatin sticks and detonators hidden in a makeshift shed. The explosives are believed to be used for illegal mining activities in the region.
Five individuals, including the quarry owner Venkataramana Reddy, have been taken into custody. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Explosives Act and other applicable laws. The police are investigating the source of the explosives and their intended use.
Previous Incidents
This is not the first time that illegal explosives have been seized in the area. In the past, authorities have conducted similar raids, highlighting the ongoing issue of unauthorized mining and storage of hazardous materials.
