17-Year-Old Shot Over Trivial Issue in Buxar Village

A 17-year-old boy was shot at over a trivial issue in Ekauna village under Simari police station area of Buxar district on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Manish Yadav, son of Harendra Yadav and a resident of Ekauna village, sustained severe gunshot injuries.

Family members initially rushed him to a private hospital in Buxar, where his condition remained critical. He was later shifted to Varanasi for better medical care.

According to police, the victim's family has accused Raunak Tiwari, son of Ganesh Tiwari and a resident of Dubauli village, of firing at Manish. The accused is currently absconding. Both youths were known to each other.

At the time of the incident, Manish was riding his motorcycle from Ekauna towards Dubauli, while Raunak was heading towards Ekauna from his village. They crossed paths during the journey. It is alleged that Manish made a remark over a certain issue, which angered Raunak. In response, Raunak allegedly pulled out a pistol from his waist, fired at Manish, and fled the spot.

Upon receiving information, family members and locals rushed to the scene and took the injured to a hospital for treatment.

Buxar Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya said, "Villagers claimed that the accused is a drug addict and frequently gets into disputes with people over trivial matters. We are investigating the matter, and efforts have been intensified to arrest the accused."

The incident highlights concerns over rising violence over minor issues in the region. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the suspect and are examining the circumstances leading to the shooting.
