Residents of the Undavalli area in Guntur district were left alarmed after a series of brazen late-night theft attempts targeted parked two-wheelers. The incidents occurred in the early hours of Friday, with miscreants trying to break into multiple vehicles.
CCTV Footage Reveals Modus Operandi
Surveillance camera recordings from the locality played a crucial role in piecing together the events. The footage showed two unidentified men moving through the streets around dawn. The duo specifically targeted scooters parked outside houses, going from one vehicle to another.
Their method involved forcibly prying open the storage compartments, commonly known as dickeys or boot spaces, of the two-wheelers. Police reports indicate that approximately 15 scooters fell victim to these attempted thefts during the spree.
Residents Alert Authorities, Police Launch Probe
The crime came to light when vehicle owners stepped out in the morning to find the dicky lids of their scooters left wide open. While, fortunately, no major valuables were reported stolen, the visible damage and intrusion caused significant concern among the community.
Acting swiftly, the residents immediately alerted the local police. Personnel reached the spot promptly to conduct an examination. After reviewing the CCTV evidence and gathering other inputs, the police confirmed they have identified the suspects involved in the case.
