In a significant development ahead of the state-level 77th Republic Day celebrations, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new District Seva Sadan building in Vav-Tharad on Sunday. The event, held on the eve of the Republic Day function scheduled for Monday, marks a major step towards enhancing administrative infrastructure in the region.

A Modern Hub for Government Services

The new District Seva Sadan is set to be constructed over a sprawling 39-acre area with an estimated investment of approximately Rs 70 crore, as confirmed by an official government statement. This ambitious project aims to revolutionize how citizens interact with state authorities by consolidating multiple government departments under one roof.

Streamlining Public Service Delivery

Addressing the gathering at the ceremony, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized that the facility is designed to provide easier access to government services for the local population. "The primary objective is to offer services from various government departments from a single location, which will save considerable time and resources for the people while simultaneously improving administrative efficiency," Patel stated.

The upcoming District Seva Sadan will serve as an integrated service center, housing the office of the district collector along with more than 30 district-level offices of different state government departments. This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to equip newly created districts with comprehensive service delivery mechanisms.

Sustainable Development and Green Initiatives

In alignment with contemporary environmental standards, the building will be developed following strict green building norms. The planned facilities for the complex include:

  • A solar rooftop system to harness renewable energy
  • Rainwater harvesting infrastructure for water conservation
  • A large meeting hall for public gatherings and official functions
  • Modern lift systems for accessibility
  • Basement parking to accommodate visitors and staff

Boosting Industrial Growth in the Region

In a parallel development aimed at accelerating economic progress, Chief Minister Patel also laid the foundation stone for a new industrial estate to be established by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) at Dudhwa in Vav-Tharad district. This industrial estate will span 99.23 acres of government land in Dudhwa.

Patel expressed confidence that this industrial initiative would significantly boost the development trajectory of the newly formed district. "The establishment of this industrial estate will catalyze the growth of Vav-Tharad, enabling it to match other districts of Gujarat in terms of infrastructure and overall development," he affirmed.

Political Support and Economic Implications

Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary extended his gratitude to the state government for opening new avenues of development in this border district. Chaudhary highlighted how agricultural production, including crops like pomegranates, had previously shifted from the region to Rajkot. "With the establishment of GIDC in Dudhwa, value addition of agricultural produce will now occur locally, benefiting farmers and the regional economy," he noted.

This dual initiative—combining administrative modernization through the District Seva Sadan with industrial expansion via the GIDC estate—represents a comprehensive approach to regional development. As Gujarat prepares to celebrate Republic Day, these foundational projects signal the government's commitment to enhancing both governance and economic opportunities in emerging districts.
