IAS Officer V Vijaya Ramaraju Assumes Leadership of APCRDA in Amaravati
In a significant administrative development, V Vijaya Ramaraju, a 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, officially took charge as the commissioner of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on Saturday. The formal assumption of duties occurred at the APCRDA headquarters located in Rayapudi, within the capital region of Amaravati.
Traditional Ceremony and Official Welcome
The proceedings commenced with Vijaya Ramaraju performing traditional rituals at the commissioner's chamber situated on the fifth floor of the CRDA headquarters. This ceremonial act was followed by his formal assumption of charge, witnessed by key senior officials including additional commissioner A Bhargava Teja and director (office management) Vallabhaneni Srinivasa Rao. Officers representing various departments were present to greet and felicitate the new commissioner, marking the occasion with official recognition and support.
Immediate Review of Capital Development Works
Demonstrating a proactive approach, Vijaya Ramaraju swiftly convened a review meeting with heads of departments shortly after taking office. The primary objective of this meeting was to assess critical issues pertaining to the APCRDA and evaluate the progress of capital development works in Amaravati. This immediate engagement underscores the commissioner's commitment to addressing ongoing projects and challenges within the authority.
Background of the Leadership Change
The appointment of Vijaya Ramaraju follows the recent removal of Kannababu, a 2006-batch IAS officer, from the position of APCRDA commissioner. This decision by the state government was prompted by complaints from farmers and various contractors regarding the administration and execution of capital development initiatives. The transition highlights the government's responsiveness to stakeholder concerns and its strategic move to bring in fresh leadership to helm this crucial institution responsible for shaping the capital city's development.
The APCRDA plays a pivotal role in planning and implementing infrastructure and urban development projects in Amaravati, making the commissioner's position vital for the region's growth trajectory. With Vijaya Ramaraju at the helm, stakeholders are keenly observing how his tenure will influence the pace and direction of capital development efforts, aiming for enhanced efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction.
